Fire in allotment garden in Hilden - several garden sheds burn down

Flames spread to neighboring sheds - fire brigade prevents spread to residential buildings

This evening, several garden sheds caught fire in an allotment garden in Hilden on the border with Langenfeld. The fire brigade was alerted at 8:16 p.m. and was on the scene within minutes with a large contingent. According to initial findings, a shed caught fire for an as yet unknown reason. The flames then spread to neighboring sheds. Witnesses reported loud bangs.

Numerous garden sheds burned down completely, the fire brigade prevented the fire from spreading to neighboring residential buildings. No one was injured in the fire. The fire brigade is currently extinguishing the last embers. The damage is estimated to be in the six-figure range.

The fire brigade is warning against entering the allotment garden area for the time being due to the ongoing extinguishing work and the risk of collapse. The cause of the fire is still under investigation. Updates will follow.
