Paramount+ Secures Streaming Rights to Upcoming Horror Sequel

Smile 2, the highly anticipated sequel to the 2022 horror hit, has found a streaming home. Paramount+ has secured the exclusive streaming rights to the film, which is set to debut on the platform later this year.

The original Smile, directed by Parker Finn, became a surprise box office success, grossing over $216 million worldwide against a production budget of just $17 million. The film starred Sosie Bacon as a therapist who becomes haunted by a mysterious entity that forces her to smile.

Smile 2 will see Bacon reprise her role as Dr. Rose Cotter, who is still struggling to come to terms with the events of the first film. When she begins to see the same terrifying entity that haunted her before, Rose must confront her past and find a way to stop it before it's too late.

Cast and Crew

In addition to Bacon, Smile 2 will also feature Kyle Gallner, Caitlin Stasey, Jessie T. Usher, and Kal Penn. The film is directed by Alex Essoe, who previously directed the horror film Starry Eyes.

Release Date

Smile 2 is scheduled to be released in theaters on September 30, 2023. The film will then debut on Paramount+ 45 days after its theatrical release.
