Sri Lanka Vs West Indies, 2nd ODI Live Score: WI Look To Level Series In Pallekele

Sri Lanka Win Toss, Elect To Bat First

In the second One Day International (ODI) match between Sri Lanka and the West Indies in Pallekele, the home team won the toss and elected to bat first. Sri Lanka made one change to their team, bringing in Nuwanidu Fernando for Chamika Karunaratne, while the West Indies remained unchanged from the first match.

West Indies captain Nicholas Pooran said at the toss that he would have liked to bowl first as well, but he was confident in his team's ability to chase down any total. Sri Lanka openers Pathum Nissanka and Avishka Fernando got their team off to a solid start, putting on 50 runs for the first wicket before Fernando was dismissed for 20.

West Indies Strike Back With Two Quick Wickets

The West Indies then struck back with two quick wickets, as Alzarri Joseph had Nissanka caught behind for 35 and then trapped Kusal Mendis lbw for 1. Sri Lanka were now 59/3, but skipper Dasun Shanaka and Dhananjaya de Silva steadied the innings with a 50-run partnership.

However, just when Sri Lanka looked to be building a solid foundation, Shanaka was dismissed for 35, caught by Shai Hope off the bowling of Akeal Hosein. De Silva followed soon after, caught by Jason Holder off the bowling of Joseph for 29.

Sri Lanka Lose Wickets At Regular Intervals

Sri Lanka continued to lose wickets at regular intervals, as Charith Asalanka was caught by Pooran off the bowling of Holder for 15, and Ramesh Mendis was caught by Hope off the bowling of Hosein for 10. Wanindu Hasaranga was the last man out, caught by Pooran off the bowling of Holder for 14.

In the end, Sri Lanka were bowled out for 193 in 44.4 overs. Joseph was the pick of the West Indies bowlers, taking 3/39, while Holder and Hosein took two wickets each.
