Sri Lanka won the toss and elected to bat first in the first One Day International (ODI) against the West Indies at the Coolidge Cricket Ground in Antigua.

Sri Lanka got off to a solid start, with openers Pathum Nissanka and Danushka Gunathilaka putting on a 50-run partnership for the first wicket.

However, the West Indies bowlers fought back, with Alzarri Joseph dismissing both Nissanka and Gunathilaka in quick succession.

Sri Lanka then lost wickets at regular intervals, with only Charith Asalanka (35) and Dasun Shanaka (33) offering any real resistance.

The West Indies eventually bowled Sri Lanka out for 189 in 43.1 overs.

In reply, the West Indies reached 16/0 in the fifth over when rain stopped play.
